The Dartmoor National Park

The Dartmoor National Park covers an area of 368 square miles - the largest and wildest area of open country in Southern England, to be enjoyed all year round. Bluebells in Spring, many wild flowers in Summer and Heather covered moorland welcoming the Autumn tints of Bracken and gorse.

Dartmoor offers a unique landscape of deep wooded gorges, tumbling rocky rivers and beautiful lake like reservoirs. Experience stunning views from one of many dramatic craggy Tors, visit ancient monuments and archaeological sites, remains of tin mines and quarries. On the fringes of the Moor see ruined castles, picturesque villages, mediaeval abbeys and ancient churches. Something for everyone young and old.

Dartmoor is a special place, a huge nature reserve, where you are sure to experience nature first hand. The famous Dartmoor ponies by the road side also Foxes, Badgers, Deer, Buzzards, Herons and many other birds and at night hear the eerie cry of Owls.

There are many different ways to experience the beauty of Dartmoor from Wingstone Farm:

By foot - Walk directly onto open Moorland, or go further with arranged kit transfer.

By car - Many attractions are only a short drive away, or day trips into Cornwall

By horse - Bring your horse as stabling is available or hire one from a local stable.

By bicycle - Follow circular rides with pub stops for lunch. Kit transfer is available.

By bus - The Dartmoor Rover will take you all over the Moors. Timetables available.

Even by hot air balloon - Flights from April to November, usually at dawn or dusk.

Take the opportunity to experience nature first hand and follow the self guided walk around the farm or join one of the many guided walks. Take advantage of a packed lunch facility on request.
